Bunk House

Peppin Point is Kid Country

Peppin Point is Kid Country

Peppin Point Holiday Park has room for kids – lots of it.
And as it is at Bonnie Doon on Victoria’s natural Lake Eildon, it is in a beautiful free place with the space and activities to keep those painful words “I’m bored” right out of the action.

When the question is what will I do now?
Well the answers are golf, tennis, swimming (pool and lake), canoeing, waterskiing and wake boarding, park and nature walks, volleyball, in-ground trampoline, treasure hunting, sight-seeing .

The ‘do it’ options will drop the head of steam in even the most active young bodies.

The nine-hole par three golf course requires skill to match or stay under the card and the swimming pool water slide turns making a splash into a safe, fun experience in the hot months.

The Peppin Point High Country high is about two hours from Melbourne via the pretty towns of Lilydale, Yarra Glen, Yea and historic rural Alexandra.

A popular alternative route of about 150km is to travel through the towering timber on the Black Spur, via Healesville, a winding, leafy mountain drive guaranteed to hold the attention of young and old.
Or make a round trip of the visit to Peppin Point via the Black Spur and then head back to Melbourne via Alexandra and Yea.

Not  far to the ski slopes of Mt Buller, about an hours drive to the the peak, you will pass  through the beautiful town of Mansfield. This where you can pick up all those necessary items for the slopes.

At about 180 km (depending on the route chosen) from Melbourne Peppin Point is not too far for young travellers so don’t worry about cries of – are we there yet? They are unlikely or at least manageable.

On arrival there is the recently renovated bunkhouse.

Yes it is a BUNK HOUSE, bigger than Texas, which can sleep up to 48 This means there is room to spare for child friendly groups, be they schools, churches or Harry Potter fan clubs and the Bunk House comes with 24 hour security on a separate site.

It is practical and easy to manage which makes sure the Gangs all here and stay that way.
The fully equipped kitchen is the real commercial deal; this is a set-up which will make the most demanding chef happy to rattle those pots and pans.

Yes, this is a self-catered experience, but the Park gives full support with organising the supplies to feed the group. Or Peppin Point has a barbecue, rotunda area, complete with open fire to provide serious time around the campfire

Indoors there is a separate dining and recreation room which comes equipped with TV, DVD and video. It is heated well for those chilly winter nights, a good place to stay on a budget for the snow fields with a big group of friends or family. And while the kids enjoy healthy eating the low cost facility should have club treasurers, recreation co-ordinators and school principals warbling “I feel better now”.

Cabins are also available for big groups at this property which can accommodate up to 200 guests. Careful thought has gone into handling the potential guest list and there are three modern toilet and shower amenities blocks. There is also a children’s playground and a licensed mini mart provides basic food needs

The 56 acre property on Victoria’s biggest lake at Bonnie Doon is just begging to be explored and is ideal for school children.

Peppin Point is near Mansfield, Mt Buller  the old goldfields of Jamieson, the Dam Wall of Eildon, Eildon State Park and Fraser National Park. It is an area close to nature with plenty of interesting wildlife. The trout fishing in the area is part of the High Country legend.
